By sector – quick recommendations
Food Industry
Indoor production wash-down: HDE840 F (electric, zero emissions) is the only correct specification for enclosed food handling areas. Outdoor or well-ventilated areas: HSC823 INOX for fixed installations, or HD1140 / HD1240 for mobile wash-down across large production sites.
Pharmaceutical
Inside GMP-controlled space: HDE840 F is the right specification — electric heating is essentially mandatory in clean-room environments. For non-controlled external areas and loading bays where combustion can be vented: HSC823 INOX for fixed installations or HD940 / HD1140 for mobile work.
Agriculture
Smaller dairies and livestock operations: HD623 for single-phase, HD823 if you need more flow. Major arable and contracting yards: HD940 for mobile work, HD1140 for heavy-duty applications, HD1240 where large-area wash-down matters. HSC823 painted for fixed wash bays in machinery yards.
Automotive
Independent workshops and MOT bays: HD623 or HD823 on single-phase. HGV, bus and commercial vehicle depots: HD940 or HD1140 for mobile use, HD1240 where flow rate matters most. Fixed dealership wash bays: HSC823 painted is the standard specification.
Manufacturing
Engineering and machine tool workshops: HD823 for single-phase, HD940 for three-phase. Heavy industry and large production sites: HD1140 for pressure-driven cleaning, HD1240 for large-area throughput. Fixed installations: HSC823 painted for general industrial environments, HSC823 INOX for corrosive or sensitive zones, HDE840 F for enclosed or hygiene-critical production.
A note on diesel versus electric heating
All Ehrle hot-water machines other than the HDE840 F use diesel-fired burners. Diesel heating is highly cost-effective and delivers excellent thermal performance, but it produces combustion exhaust gases. That means diesel machines need to be sited in well-ventilated or outdoor locations. The electric HDE840 F is the only option for fully enclosed clean-room or food production environments where combustion air quality is not acceptable.
